Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced 16,409 new business filings in May 2023, up 12 percent from May of last year.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced 14,765 new business filings in April 2023, down nearly five percent year over year. Despite the decline, business filings remain modestly ahead of the previous year’s pace by 762 filings, reflecting 66,646 total businesses filed in Ohio so far in 2023.

In a continuing effort to stop legislators from reinstating an August election this year, opponents quoted Ohio’s Secretary of State, who just last year, supported the removal of unneeded August elections.

Early voting has begun for the May 2 primary/special election in Ohio for the 67 counties that have local candidates and issues on their ballots.
