    As the SCOL schools prepared for another football season in September 1973, the “Coaches Musical Chairs” game was in full throttle. Jay Knierim was out and Fred Brisker was in at McClain. Dale Ambos was out and Mike Doyle was in at Hillsboro. Doyle came to Hillsboro from Franklin Heights High School, where he was backfield coach. He was a Miami Trace High School and Wilmington College graduate, who had also attended Ohio State University.

    After a disappointing extra inning one run loss at Westfall over the weekend, the Fairfield Lady Lions returned to Southern Hills League action in a big way by blanking the Ripley Lady Blue Jays 9-0 Tuesday. Sophomore pitching ace Lauren Larrick was the main attraction at Fairfield High School by tossing a no-hitter, with 11 strikeouts.
