The NCAA Academic Progress Reports (APR) were released last week, with the University of Dayton athletics programs continuing to excel. Data contained in the report is through the 2021-22 academic year.

Here are Dayton's highlights from the report:

• The following five programs had perfect scores of 1,000: men's cross country, men's tennis, women's tennis, softball and women's basketball.

• Overall, Dayton averaged an APR of 991 across all programs, seven points above the national average of 984.

• Women's basketball achieved a perfect score for the second straight year and the only one in the Atlantic 10 this season. The Flyers were also one of five perfect scores in the A-10 and one of 57 nationally.

• Men's basketball's score of 989 was tied for second in the A-10 and second in Ohio, as well as 59th nationally.

• Football's score of 986 was second in the Pioneer Football League, third in Ohio behind Cincinnati and Ohio State, and tied for 26th nationally.

• Men's tennis was one of 70 nationally with a perfect score, one of four in the A-10, and one of three in Ohio.

• Women's tennis was one of four in the A-10 and one of three in Ohio with a 1000. It marks the 11th straight season they have had a perfect score.

• Volleyball posted a 995 which tied for fourth in the A-10.

• Dayton is one of just 15 institutions to have at least three teams earn APR recognition in each of the 16 years of the APR report.  The other schools are Brown, Bucknell, Dartmouth, Davidson, Duke, Harvard, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn, Princeton and Yale.

Throughout 19 years of the Academic Performance Program, more than 20,700 student-athletes have gone back to school to earn their degrees — earning points for their former team. These student-athletes are typically not counted in the federal graduation rate or Graduation Success Rate calculations.

Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.
