CLARKSVILLE — Though the McClain Tigers were knocked out of the postseason on Monday, they ended the season on a winning note, defeating the Clinton-Massie Falcons, 5-2 Tuesday at CMHS.

The win gives the Tigers a final overall record of 10-11 overall and South Central Ohio League record of 6-6.

"It's always tough to play a league game after getting knocked out of the tournament, but the kids were up for this," MHS head coach Brandon Streitenberger said. "They wanted to end the year on a winning note, and it was nice for our seniors to get a win in their final game."

McClain trailed 2-0 after two innings against the Falcons but rallied for four runs in the top of the third and added one more run in the fourth for their five-run total.

In the third, Tanner VanZant reached the bases on an infield error and took second on a walk forced by Zach Uhl. Dustin Taylor followed with an RBI single to score VanZant.

Ryan Perie reached first on an error, forcing Taylor out at second, and moving Uhl to third. Perie stole second, and Kyle Flora loaded the bases with a walk.

The hit of the game came off the bat of Ryan Case, who cleared the bases with a double for three RBIs, scoring Uhl, Perie and Flora.

In the fourth, Jacob Dillon scored on a ground ball, which turned into an error.

Uhl was the winning pitcher for MHS, improving his season to 3-0 on the mound. He pitched all seven innings, allowing two runs (none earned) on seven walks and four hits. Uhl, a senior, struck out eight in his final game for the Tigers.

"Zach pitched a great game, and he had solid defense behind him." Streitenberger said.

Playing their final games for the Tigers were Jacob Dillon, Zach Uhl, Dustin Taylor, Tanner VanZant, Thorne Hester and Dylan Wheaton.

"This was a fun group of guys to be around this season," Streitenberger said. "They had a lot of success while in the program, and we are going to miss them. They are all great kids."[[In-content Ad]]
