SCOL champ Tigers stay undefeated

CLARKSVILLE — The McClain Tigers didn't suffer a championship setback on Thursday; in fact, they continued to work toward their next goal. MHS stayed undefeated on Thursday by defeating the Clinton-Massie Falcons 2-0 at CMHS.
The road win by MHS puts them at 10-0-1 in the South Central Ohio League, a league for which they clinched the title on Tuesday with a 6-1 win over the Washington Blue Lions at McClain Field.
On Thursday, MHS led 1-0 at halftime after a goal by Luis Rivas. In the second half, they added to their advantage with a goal from Jarred White. Both Rivas and White are seniors.
"We played very well," MHS coach Shawn Jackson said. "Clinton-Massie was ready for us, and it was a physical game.
"It was a great game, and we held onto the lead. It was good to get that second-half goal."
McClain has one league match remaining to finish undefeated in the league for the second year in a row as they face the Miami Trace Panthers on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at MTHS.
"We know we have it on the line, but we don't want to think about it. We told the team to just relax and concentrate on our next goal. The boys are playing with a lot of confidence right now."
