HILLSBORO — Rain, late starts and a blown light weren't enough to put a stop to the Hillsboro Post 129 Wooden Bat tournament on Saturday night and into Sunday morning as they split their final two games played on the field with an 11-7 loss to Westerville South and a 5-2 win over Washington C.H. Post 25.
The final game, the three-run win over WCH, didn't finish until around the 3 a.m. hour with numerous delays in the game, added with a late start due to other games earlier in the day, but that didn't stop Post 129 from earning the win.
Against Washington, Post 129 scored two runs in the first and two more in the seventh, breaking a 2-2 tie as the Post 25 runs were scored with a two-run second inning.
Scoring for Hillsboro in the first were Bryce Bean and Corey Walker with both runners scoring on a passed ball.
After Washington tied the score at 2-2, Hillsboro waited until the final inning to secure the win with two more runs by Bean and Walker along with a run by Paul Snyder, as Snyder scored on a double by Stephen Pappas.
For the game, Bean was 2-for-4, with two runs and Walker was 3-for-4 with two runs. Snyder finished with one hit and one walk, along with the aforementioned run.

Also gaining hits against WCH were Joey Wilson and Tyler Griego (two hits). Taylor Smucker drew a walk.
The pitching win went to Luke Taggert for Post 129 as he threw 71 pitches.
