Attention, baseball fans: Get ready for a memorable evening to support Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball on Jan. 18, 2025. This distinctive event will feature special guests Tim Belcher, a 14-year Major League Baseball veteran and proud MVNU alumnus; Tom Hamilton, the beloved voice of the Cleveland Guardians; and emcee Mark “The Shark” Howell from 97.1 The Fan.
The festivities will kick off with a social hour at 5 p.m., followed by a catered dinner at 6 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear firsthand stories from Belcher and Hamilton, who will share highlights from their illustrious careers. The evening will also highlight the memories and stories of MVNU baseball and its players.
“MVNU baseball has a rich history of quality baseball on the field and quality relationships, experiences, and memories off the field,” said Mike Cheek, MVNU Executive Director of Major Gifts and baseball alumnus. “There are many wins and championships, but even more alumni making a difference in their homes, communities, businesses and churches. This project and this event celebrate this wonderful alumni family and tremendous history of our program.”
In addition to the engaging dialogue between Belcher, Hamilton and Howell, guests will have the chance to participate in a limited live auction featuring unique experiences, such as an in-booth Cleveland Guardians radio experience with Hamilton, an autographed Belcher jersey and other unique items. A silent auction will also showcase an array of must-have items, including MVNU baseball memorabilia, MLB autographed collectibles, an Amish Country experience, Columbus Blue Jackets tickets and more.
Tickets, which include a gourmet dinner, are available for $200 each with tables of eight offered for those looking to enjoy the evening with friends or family. All proceeds will support the On-Deck campaign for Cougar baseball. The campaign is aimed at enhancing the baseball facilities with key highlights, including a renovated clubhouse; stadium lights; a new entry and plaza, which includes a new press box with ticket windows and a concession stand; and improved stadium seating.
“Cougar baseball has always been about more than records and statistics. Lifelong relationships, memorable experiences and learning principles and lessons to be carried beyond baseball have all characterized what playing baseball at MVNU is all about,” said coach Keith Veale. “That’s also what this night will be all about.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to support MVNU baseball and be part of a night filled with camaraderie and excitement. For more information or to secure your tickets, visit mvnu.edu/on-deck/.
