Lady Tigers fall on Senior Night

GREENFIELD — The McClain Lady Tigers celebrated their five seniors on Tuesday night but lost the match on the field, falling to the Washington Lady Blue Lions 8-2 at McClain Friday. 

Seniors who played their final home match included: Gretta Reyer, Sammy Rooks, Taylor Faulconer, Lauren Howard and Kaitlyn Faulconer. 

Though MHS celebrated their seniors, it was Washington's junior Ashley Lovett who took over the match with five goals on the night, including four first-half goals en route to the South Central Ohio League win.
 
Lovett's first-half goals came at the 34:39 mark of the first half, followed by a second goal with 30:10 remaining, putting the Lady Blue Lions up 2-0. Her first two goals were assisted by Alex Janasov and Christy Smith. 

Lovett made the score 3-0 with an unassisted goal with 5:44 remaining in the first, followed by a goal at the 4:18 mark, which was assisted by Chelsey Warning.
 
In between the the third and fourth Lady Blue Lion goals, Rooks put the ball in the back of the net with 4:41 remaining. 

The final first-half goal was scored by Smith with 31 seconds left on the scoreboard, putting Washington up 5-1. 

McClain scored first in the second half with 20:51 remaining when Megan Mustard made it a three-goal game, but it was Lovett, with the assist by Kaylee Noel, who put Washington up 6-2 with 20:04 left in the match.

Smith made it 7-2 with 11:38 remaining and the final goal came from Janazov with 4:02 left in the match, with the assist by Noel.

The win moves Washington to 6-4 in the SCOL and 7-6 overall.[[In-content Ad]]
