Lady Tigers fall in OT to Unioto

CHILLICOTHE — With the score tied after four quarters, the McClain Lady Tigers were unable to finish the overtime period with the upper hand Saturday night. Being outscored 10-8 in OT, MHS dropped a non-league game to the Unioto Lady Shermans, 50-48 at UHS.
Though the Lady Tigers (12-5) led 13-11 after the first frame, they trailed at halftime by eight points at 28-20 due in large part to a 17-7 second quarter by the Lady Shermans.
MHS won the third quarter at 8-5, and the Lady Tigers led 12-7 in the fourth, sending the game into OT.
Leading all scorers was Chrissy Cobb with 17 points. Cobb made three 3-pointers and three two-point baskets. She also made two free throws.
Kate Crabtree scored eight points, and Sammy Rooks (who made her return to the court, and Jenna Perie each scored seven points.
Taylor Faulconer added four points, followed by Frankie Wise, scoring three points. Brittany Mullikin scored two points.
One big difference in the game was free-throw shooting, with UHS (15-3) going 20-of-33 and MHS going 5-of-9. MHS had 26 fouls, and UHS had 14.
Rooks and Wise each made a 3-pointer for MHS.
For the Lady Shermans, Tori Cox led with 14 points. Janae Griggs scored 12. UHS made zero 3-pointers.
From the field, MHS shot 19-of-54 for 35 percent, and UHS was 15-of-47 for 32 percent. The Lady Shermans out-rebounded the Lady Tigers, 37-26. For MHS, Taylor Faulconer had 12 boards, and Mullikin had five. Cobb also had three of the 11 MHS assists.
MHS was forced into 21 turnovers, while UHS had 19. UHS finished with seven blocked shots.
The loss drops MHS to 12-5 overall. The Lady Shermans jump to 15-3 overall.
