Lady Mustangs win sectional title; West gains win No. 250

DODSONVILLE — The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs dominated Alexander (No. 8 seed) for an 8-0 Division III SE Sectional Final win on Saturday at LCHS.

This win was also career win No. 250 for West, combined in coaching boys and girls soccer at LCHS.

Taylor Scott led LC with a hat-trick plus one, scoring four goals on the day.

Brandi Hunter and Shelby Stewart rounded out the scoring with two goals each.

At halftime, the No. 1 seeded Lady Mustangs led 5-0. They came back and added three more goals in the final 40 minutes.

"Taylor had an exceptional outing. She was in good position and finished with great accuracy," LC coach Dennis West said. "Our defense was just solid again.

"We dominated most of the match, but give credit to Alexander's keeper ... she had a tremendous number of saves, especially in the beginning of the second half. We look forward the our match on Tuesday."

LCHS is now 15-2 overall.

The win moves the Lady Mustangs to a district semifinal match against No. 5 seed Peebles on Tuesday at LCHS, starting at 5 p.m. The winner of this match will face the winner of Zane Trace and Eastern Brown.
