Hillsboro middle school softball club sweeps Eastern Brown

On Sunday, the Hillsboro Middle School Fastpitch Club Softball team opened their season by sweeping a doubleheader against Eastern Brown Fastpitch Softball Club at Leesburg Fairfield High School.
Hillsboro won by scores of 14-0 and 21-3 over Eastern Brown.
In game one, Hillsboro scored six runs in the first inning, followed with four runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth.
Hillsboro had nine hits in the first game.
For Hillsboro, Erin Hagen and Madison Snyder each went 2-for-3, with each player scoring two runs. Hagen's two hits were two doubles.
Ali Stratton went 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs. Hanna Breeden also went 1-for-1 with three runs and two walks.
The win was credited to Kerstin Thornburgh, who pitched a perfect game, allowing no hits and walking zero batters. She went four innings in the circle, striking out four batters.
In the second game, Hillsboro defeated Eastern Brown 21-3.
Hillsboro scored two runs in the first, followed with a six-run second inning. Hillsboro added one run in the fourth, six runs in the fifth and six more runs in the sixth inning.
Thornburgh and Mallory Sluss each hit a home run.
Hagen finished 3-for-4 with four runs, followed by Mallori Crum at 2-for-3 with two runs. Sluss went 2-for-4 with one run off her inside-the-park home run. Emily Meyers finished 1-for-2 at the plate, forcing one walk and scoring a run. Camryn Rimsing went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs.
Breeden, who left the game in the third inning due to injury, pitched three innings, striking out five. She allowed one unearned run, while giving up two hits and one walk.
Thornburgh pitched three innings of relief, with six strikeout and two walks. She allowed three hits and two runs (two earned).
