Former UC athlete Annette Echikunwoke qualifies for 2024 Paris Olympics

Former University of Cincinnati track and field standout Annette Echikunwoke has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. She won the hammer throw event with a season-best mark of 74.68m at the U.S. Olympic Trials at Hayward Field.
Echikunwoke finished with a toss of 72.74m in the first round. This is her first selection to the U.S. Olympic roster.
The Pickerington, Ohio native is one of the most decorated female athletes in UC history. She won the 2017 NCAA Indoor Championships national title in the weight throw and remains the school record holder in four of the five throwing events she competed in at UC. She was a seven-time AAC Champion and a four-time All-America First Team honoree.
Track and field action at the Paris Olympics begins Aug. 1 and concludes Aug. 11.
