WAYNESVILLE — Last season the McClain wrestling team did something that no other Tiger wrestling team had done before … they won 12 dual matches. On Wednesday, the Tigers had two chances to match that feat, and they did.
Their two chances came in the form of the Springboro Panthers and the Cincinnati Summit Country Day Silver Knights.
Springboro is a Division I program who competes in the Great Western Ohio Conference. In most instances, where McClain is strong, Springboro was stronger, with Springboro defeating the Tigers 66-12.
The Tigers, however, took advantage of their opportunity to tie the school mark in their next matchup against CSCD, an independent Catholic school, by defeating the Silver Knights 48-30.
The Tigers' season record is now 12-11.

Individually, two Tigers led the way, going 2-0 on the night: Roscoe East (170) and Brandon Davis (220). Davis is the first Tiger to reach the 25-win mark on the season, as he is currently 25-6.
Eight of Edward Lee McClain's wrestlers broke even on the night at 1-1. They were Coty Barnhart (132), Cody Black (145), Isaac Savage (152), Joe Unger (160), Gary Ryan (182), Jake Branham (195) and Dylan Trefz (285).
Up next will be McClain's toughest regular season tournament of the year. They will be attending the McDonald's Miami Trace Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28. The tournament starts at 10 a.m.
