3 athletes named as CSC Academic All-District honorees for SSU women's bowling

The women's bowling program at Shawnee State had three individuals named as College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees as Chloe Long, Hannah Rearick and Brooklyn Foose were each named to the Women's At-Large list, as announced by CSC officials Tuesday afternoon.

Foose (Washington HS/Washington Court House, Ohio), a multi-sport athlete who also competes as a women's tennis player for Shawnee State, earned her second CSC Academic All-District honor in 2024 alone after earning the same honor in women's tennis earlier in the spring.

Foose was a contributor to the women's tennis program matching a school record in team victories, with seven, in 2023-24 — while also helping the women's bowling program make its second-ever United States Bowling Congress Sectional appearance in 2024.

Long (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley HS), who holds a 3.99 GPA as a master's of occupational therapy major, earned her second Academic All-District honor of her career — having previously been named as a Women's At-Large recipient in 2021. Long earned a 4.0 GPA as an undergraduate student at SSU, earning her bachelor's degree in 2022.

Over the course of her career, Long has led the Shawnee State women's bowling program in bowling average in four out of her five seasons inside the program, and is the only individual in program history, male or female, to accomplish the feat:

• 2019-20 (178.3)
• 2020-21 (190.8)
• 2021-22 (185.3)
• 2023-24 (181.4).

In all, Long finished her bowling career at Shawnee State with one individual win, five top-5s, 11 top-10s, and 26 top-25 finishes. The fifth-year talent out of Camdenton, Mo. was the 2021 Ohio Bowling Conference Tournament Champion — which was, at the time, the first individual victory in either men's or women's bowling history at SSU — and blasted her way to 2021 NAIA All-American honors as a result, where she remains as the first and only NAIA All-American in the history of either the men's or women's bowling programs.

Rearick (Lebanon HS/Lebanon, Ohio), who holds a 3.95 GPA as a graphic design major, posted the second-highest average on the SSU women's bowling unit (181.17) behind Long, bowled the most games on the team (47), was one of two players to compete in all 10 events and, along with Long, tied for the most top-10s (2) and the most top-25s (8) on the women's bowling roster.

A part of the 2022 Orange and Black Classic Championship winning team along with Long, which defeated No. 21-ranked Pikeville in the finals, Rearick also won the 2022 Muskie Mash on Feb. 5, 2022 — which was the second individual win in program history for the SSU women's bowling program.

In 2024, Rearick was named as a Second-Team All-Ohio Bowling Conference recipient and, as an individual participant, finished 19th in USBC Sectional play — coming just 14 spots short of qualifying for USBC National competition.

The CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team consists of honorees from men's and women's bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's water polo, men's volleyball, women's beach volleyball and men's and women's wrestling. Certain playing and academic eligibility requirements (such as being of sophomore or older eligibility in academic standing in the recent) must be met in order to be eligible.
