Lady Mustangs volleyball sweeps Whiteoak and Peebles
On Tuesday evening at Lynchburg-Clay High School, the host Lady Mustangs gained a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win over the visiting Whiteoak Lady Wildcats in three sets.
The Lady Mustangs earned the SHAC win by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-15.
Addy Carraher finished the match with 11 assists, nine kills and seven digs for LCHS. Teammate Ava Doughman had three digs in the win.
Halle Greene of Lynchburg-Clay totaled five kills and seven digs. Also for LCHS, Matalyn Magee finished with two kills and one block.
The Lady Mustangs also had Ava McLaughlin total 13 assists, five digs and one ace.
Also for LCHS, Kylie O’Connor ended the match with 10 aces, eight kills, three digs and two blocks. Joslyn Rockey of LCHS finished with one kill, one assist, three aces and eight digs.
Avery Shope finished with the following totals: six digs, two kills and two aces. Melany Stephenson totaled seven digs, one kill and one ace. Jules Vesey added four digs.
On Thursday, Sept. 19, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated Peebles in three straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18 at Peebles High School.
Carraher led the Lady Mustangs with nine kills, followed by O’Connor with six kills and Greene with three kills. LCHS also had kills from Stephenson with three and Rockey with one.
McLaughlin led Lynchburg-Clay with 14 assists, while others with assists included: Carraher (six), Rockey (two), Greene (one) and Morgan Baker (one).
Lynchburg-Clay also had 11 team aces coming from O’Connor (five), Rockey (two), Stephenson (two), McLaughlin (one) and Shope (one).
The digs leader Rockey with 14, followed by Stephenson with 12. Others with digs were Carraher (eight), Shope (six), McLaughlin (five), Baker (three), Doughman (three), Greene (one), Magee (one) and O’Connor (one).
LCHS totaled four blocks, with Magee and O’Connor each collecting two.
LCHS is now 8-1 in the SHAC Division I standings and 10-3 overall. WHS falls to 1-7 in the SHAC Division II standings and 1-12 overall.
