Volleyball Report: Lady Mustangs top West Union; Whiteoak falls to Ripley

Lady Mustangs win in 4 sets over West Union

In four sets on Friday evening, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defended their home court to gain a SHAC win over the visiting West Union Lady Dragons 3-1.

Lynchburg-Clay earned wins in sets two, three and four by scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-14. West Union won set one at 25-14.

The Lady Mustangs totaled 41 kills, 36 assists, 21 aces, 67 digs and two blocks.

Halle Greene led LCHS with 13 kills, and next were Addy Carraher, Kylie O’Connor, and Matalyn Magee each with eight. Also with kills were Morgan Baker (one), Melany Stephenson (two) and Jules Vesey (one).

LCHS was led by Carraher with 20 assists, and next was Ava McLaughlin with 13. Also for the Lady Mustangs, Joslyn Rockey had three assists.

Carraher also led LCHS with seven aces, followed by Ava Doughman, McLaughlin, Rockey and Stephenson with three aces each. O’Connor collected two aces for the Lady Mustangs.

Rockey finished as the team leader in digs with 20, and Stephenson had 13 digs. The team also had digs from McLaughlin (nine), Carraher (eight), Vesey (seven), Baker (four), Doughman (four), Greene (two) and O’Connor (one).

Magee led LCHS with two blocks in the win.

With the victory, the Lady Mustangs improve to 6-1 in the SHAC Division I standings and 7-3 overall.

Whiteoak loses to Ripley

Friday saw the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats fall in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference contest in four sets at WHS.

WHS won set two with a score of 25-21. Ripley earned wins by scores of 25-21 (set one), 25-17 (set three) and 25-17 (set four).

The Lady ’Cats now have a SHAC Division II record of 1-6, with an overall record of 1-9.
