Lions shut out Ripley in 13-run SHAC victory

On Tuesday (April 28), the Fairfield Lions had a strong start that led to an eventual 13-run win as they hosted and defeated the Ripley Blue Jays by a 13-0 score in five innings at Fairfield High School. 

The Lions scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added four runs in the second, and their final run came in the bottom of the fourth inning. 

The Lions totaled five hits and no errors as they also walked 13 times in the win. Ripley had one hit and two errors. 

The five hits by the Lions were off the bats of Parker Pierce (1-for-1), Cam Caudill (1-for-1), Anderson Humphreys (1-for-1, two runs, two steals, one walk), Keenan White (1-for-1, one run) and Zach Ahsaruk (1-for-1, two RBI, SAC fly, one steal).

Caleb Rice finished with two runs, three steals and three walks. Cameron Miller scored one run and had two walks. Ben Miller finished with one run and two steals. 

Weston Baldwin totaled two runs and two walks. Van Bennington scored a run and walked twice. Zane Collins totaled one run, along with an RBI, a SAC fly and a walk. Greyson Abbott totaled two runs and was hit by a pitch. Kamden Luschek finished with a walk, and teammate Joel Matthews collected an RBI. 

Ben Miller pitched two innings where he allowed no earned runs on one hit and a walk with six strikeouts. Cameron Miller pitched three innings, allowing no hits, no runs, one walk and had eight strikeouts. 

The Lions are now 5-5 in the SHAC Division II standings and 6-12 overall.
