Indians gain home win over Peebles; fall to Panthers at MTHS

On Tuesday evening, the Hillsboro Indians added another win to their season total with a 10-3 victory over the visiting Peebles Indians.
Hillsboro wasted no time by taking the lead as they scored six runs in the bottom of the first for a 6-1 advantage. HHS added two runs in the third and two more in the sixth.
Peebles scored two final runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Hillsboro totaled eight hits and committed four errors, while the Peebles Indians had five hits and committed three errors.
Brayden Oberrecht was the leading batter for Hillsboro at 3-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
Jack Cornele finished 1-for-2 with one run and one walk. He also had a steal.
Nate Lane was 1-for-3 with a run, while teammate Brody Kelch was 1-for-4 as he scored two runs and collected an RBI. Von Steward was 1-for-2 with a run, a HBP, a steal, one RBI and a walk. Luke Holland was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
The HHS Indians also had Walker Pence score two runs as he was hit by a pitch three times, collected a steal and he scored a run.
Logan Barton walked once for HHS, and Mason Dumpert scored a run.
Oberrecht had the win on the mound with seven strong innings pitched, allowing one earned run on five hits and a walk. Oberrecht struck out 11 batters in the win on 100 pitches, 72 for strikes.

The following day in Frontier Athletic Conference action, the Hillsboro Indians lost on the road to the Miami Trace Panthers, 3-0 at MTHS.
The Panthers scored runs early with two in the bottom of the first, followed by a run in the second inning.
For the game, MTHS totaled five hits and had two errors, while the Indians totaled two hits and had four errors.
Hillsboro’s hits were off the bats of Brody Kelch (1-for-3) and Luke Holland (1-for-2, one walk). The Indians also had Jack Cornele force three walks with two steals. Nate Lane walked once, and Mason Dumpert also drew a walk.
Brady Juillerat had the loss with six innings pitched, allowing two earned runs on five hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
Cam Morton of Miami Trace had the win with 5.2 innings pitched, allowing no runs on two hits and four walks with 14 strikeouts. Gage Henry pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no runs on no hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Hillsboro is now 3-4 overall, with their next game on Friday, April 10 on the road at Western Brown with a 5 p.m. start.
