Hillsboro wins twice over weekend, defeating Chillicothe, North Union

Playing games on both Saturday and Sunday, the Hillsboro Lady Indians won both times, as they earned a Frontier Athletic Conference win, plus a non-conference win at the Battle of the 614.
Saturday (Dec. 6) the Lady Indians traveled to Ross County to take on an FAC foe, the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers, where they won 79-29 for a 50-point conference win at Chillicothe High School.
The Lady Indians had three players score in double figures and a total of nine players reach the scoreboard in the win, leading to a first frame where HHS led 25-7 after eight minutes.
Next was a 17-10 second quarter for a 42-17 halftime lead in the Saturday afternoon contest. Then there was a third quarter where HHS led 18-9 for an overall score of 60-24 after three frames. In the fourth frame, Hillsboro outscored Chillicothe, 19-5.
Hillsboro as a team collected 48 rebounds (21 offensive), 21 assists, 14 steals and two blocks and had just nine turnovers. The Lady Indians also made six 3-pointers and 26 two-point baskets. From the free-throw line, Hillsboro finished 9-of-14.
The leader for the Lady Indians in the scoring column was Tylee Davis, as the junior added another double-double to her season totals, finishing with 25 points and 17 rebounds (seven offensive). She also tallied six assists and four steals, plus in her scoring she made three 3-pointers. Davis shot 50 percent from the field (9-of-18) and was 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
Kobie Miles totaled 15 points, with one 3-pointer, four two-point baskets and she was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Miles also finished the win with five rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Ella Jordan ended the game with 10 points of five two-point baskets, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Teammate Annia Young had nine points (including a 3-pointer), plus seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Scoring five points each were Taylor-Ann Scruggs and Nevaeh Blair. Scruggs also had seven rebounds (four offensive) and one steal. Blair totaled four rebounds.
Scoring four points each were Piper Wilkin and Kylee-Ann Scruggs. Wilkin ended the game with four rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks. Parker Wilkin finished with two points, one rebound, three assists and one steal.
In the JV game on Saturday, the Lady Indians defeated CHS 40-7 at CHS. HHS had 13 points scored by Kylee-Ann Scruggs, followed by Zoey Page and Nevaeh Blair with eight points each. Parker Wilkin totaled six points, and Taylor-Ann Scruggs finished with five points.
In a very rare Sunday game (Dec. 7) the Lady Indians defeated North Union 62-51 in the Battle of the 614 at Ohio Dominican University.
Hillsboro after the first frame trailed 12-6, and after the Lady Indians outscored NUHS 15-12 in the second quarter, it was 24-21 with North Union leading at halftime.
The third quarter saw HHS score 12 points, and in the fourth quarter they broke away for 24 more points. North Union scored 17 points in the third and 10 points in the fourth frame.
Tylee Davis finished with 17 points, as she was 11-of-15 from the free-throw line, along with three two-point baskets. In the fourth quarter, Davis made nine free throws on 12 attempts. She also recorded a double-double with 17 rebounds.
Ella Jordan totaled 15 points with three 3-pointers as part of her final total scoring. Annia Young ended the game with 10 points off five made baskets, while scoring seven points apiece were Kobie Miles and Taylor-Ann Scruggs. Piper Wilkin rounded out the scoring of Hillsboro with six points, as she made two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Totals for HHS included 12 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers, and they were 23-of-33 from the free-throw line. Hillsboro now stands at 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the FAC standings, tied for first place with McClain.
Next for the Lady Indians in an away FAC game Wednesday, Dec. 10 in Fayette County against the Washington Lady Blue Lions.
