Hillsboro defeats East Clinton; falls to New Richmond, Jackson

In their past three games, the Hillsboro Indians baseball team dropped two games, followed by a win.  

HHS lost to New Richmond, 12-1 on Thursday, May 4, and to Jackson in a Frontier Athletic Conference game by a 19-1 score on Friday, May 5. HHS rebounded Monday, May 8 with a non-conference win against East Clinton by an 8-4 score.

Against New Richmond, the Indians were held to two hits, those coming off the bat of Thompson, who was 1-for-2 with a double, and Korbin Adams, finishing 1-for-3. Nic Burns scored the lone run for HHS in the third inning at Shaffer Park.

Ashton Clemons pitched 3.2 innings, allowing three earned runs with two walks and two strikeouts.

Walker Pence threw 2.1 innings, allowing no earned runs on no hits and six walks. He also had two strikeouts.

On Friday, May 5, the Indians lost to Jackson, 19-1.

HHS had one hit in the home loss, that by Brayden Hunter, who was 1-for-3. Travis Ross scored a run. Jackson Cornele forced a walk, Nic Burns had one RBI, Will Hart forced a walk and Walker Pence also had a walk.

On Monday (May 8), the Hillsboro Indians won a road game by defeating East Clinton, 8-4.

HHS scored two runs in the in both the first and second innings for a 4-0 lead. HHS added four runs in the top of the third, for their 8-0 lead.

ECHS scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, then added one run in the sixth inning.

Travis Ross went 1-for-2 with a run, a double and three RBI. Brayden Hunter went 2-for-4 with a run, Bryce Parsons finished 2-for-3 with a run, one RBI and a double.

Jackson Cornele was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.

Ashton Clemons was the winning pitcher, throwing 4.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and five walks, while also having two strikeouts.

Hunter pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one earned run on no hits and four walks. He totaled one strikeout. Thompson pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks, with one strikeout.

Hillsboro stands at 5-17 overall this season.
