Girls Basketball Report: Lynchburg-Clay, Whiteoak earn victories; HHS, FHS fall in recent games

Lady Mustangs top Peebles in 16-point win
Lynchburg-Clay returned to Highland County with a road win Thursday evening by defeating the host Peebles Lady Indians, 42-26.
LCHS took control of the game quickly by leading 17-2 at the conclusion of the first quarter, then after each team scored nine points in the second, it was Lynchburg-Clay leading Peebles 26-11 at halftime.
The two teams combined for five points in the third frame, with LCHS outscoring PHS 3-2 in the quarter, and in the fourth quarter each team scored 13 points.
Adilyn Carraher led LCHS with 13 points, finishing with three 3-pointers, two two-pointers and she also had four rebounds, two steals and a block.
Lily Ferguson totaled 10 points in the win with four two-point baskets, and she was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. Ferguson added three rebounds and five steals.
Madison McMullen finished with eight points off four baskets, and she also had six rebounds and two assists.
Allie Waits totaled four points with one basket, and she was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Waits also had five rebounds and three assists.
Joslyn Rockey totaled two points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block.
Ava McLaughlin had three rebounds, while teammate Savannah Bell totaled five rebounds and a steal.
Team totals for LCHS included 13 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and they were 7-of-12 from the free-throw line.
The win improves LCHS to 5-8 in the SHAC Division I standings and 8-14 overall.
Peebles moves to 2-11 in the SHAC Division I standings and 4-17 overall.

Fairfield loses to Miami Trace
Playing a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon, the Fairfield Lady Lions faced the Miami Trace Lady Panthers, where they fell by a 40-33 score.
Fairfield battled with the visiting Lady Panthers as FHS held a 7-6 lead after the first quarter, but Miami Trace came back in the second to outscore Fairfield 16-11, putting MTHS ahead at halftime by a score of 22-18.
MTHS outscored Fairfield 14-4 in the third, and the Lady Lions won the fourth frame at 11-4.
Fairfield’s leading scorer was Isabelle Hale with 10 points, making two two-pointers, two 3-pointers and she also had one assist and two steals.
Rilee Quickle totaled nine points for the Lady Lions with one 3-pointer, one two pointer, and she was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Vivian Henninger had five points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.
Meri Jackson finished with four points, six rebounds and one steal.
Kassi Miller ended the game with three points off free throws, two rebounds, three assists and five steals.
Addison Cannon finished with two points.
Team totals included eight two-pointers, three 3-pointers, and they were 8-of-17 from the free-throw line.
Fairfield now has an overall record of 6-15. Miami Trace improved to 12-10 overall.

Hillsboro loses to last-second basket against Adena
A last-second shot by the Adena Lady Warriors left the Hillsboro Lady Indians with a non-conference loss Saturday by a 48-47 score.
HHS led 14-9 after the first quarter, and following a 12-10 second frame, Hillsboro held the lead at halftime at 26-19.
Adena outscored HHS 16-10 in the third frame, and Adena also won the fourth frame and game with a 13-11 fourth quarter.
Kyra Boyd led the Lady Indians with 12 points as she three two pointers, one 3-pointer, and she went 3-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Tylee Davis finished with 10 points off five two-point baskets, and Peighton Bledsoe also scored 10 points with two two pointers and two 3-pointers.
Kobie Miles collected eight points with three two pointers, and she was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. Ella Jordan ended the game with seven points with two two-point baskets and a 3-pointer.
HHS finished with team totals that included 15 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers and they were 5-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Hillsboro finishes the regular season with an 18-4 record.

Whiteoak dominates Western Latham
From the very beginning to the final buzzer, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats dominated Western Latham, 79-9 Saturday.
WHS scored 23 points in the first quarter and 23 more points in the second frame. From there, WHS added 11 points in the third and 22 points in the fourth quarter.
Addison Roberts led WHS with 22 points, finishing with two 3-pointers, six two-point baskets and she went 4-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Kylee Hamm finished with 13 points, making four two-point buckets, one 3-pointer, and she was 2-of-3 from the free-throw line.
Charli Hauke ended the game with 12 points off six baskets from the field, and also with 12 points was Torie Potts, as she also made six baskets from two-point range.
Scoring six points each were Elly McMullen and Addy Hauke, as McMullen made two 3-pointers, and Hauke made two baskets and she went 2-of-2 from the free-throw lines.
Jillian Lucas ended the game with five points, making two two-pointers, and she was 1-of-1 from the free-throw line.
Adrionna Phillips finished with three points with a basket and free throw.
Team totals for Whiteoak included 27 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers, and they were 10-of-18 from the free-throw line.
Western totaled three two-pointers, and they were 3-of-6 from the free-throw line.
