Wildcats dominate Ripley
Wednesday was a makeup game for the Whiteoak Wildcats, as they traveled to Ripley High School and defeated the host Blue Jays, 78-59 for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory.
Whiteoak’s first quarter was dominant with a 23-9 lead, and the second quarter was strong as well, with a 23-14 frame, leaving the visiting Wildcats ahead by 20 points at 43-23 at halftime.
WHS added 15 points in the third and 20 points in the fourth quarter. Ripley scored 20 points in the third and 16 points in the final frame.
Whiteoak’s leading scorer was Zander Roades with 26 points. Roades finished with five 3-pointers, four two-point baskets, and he was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
Sawyer Blair ended the game with 18 points, consisting of five two-pointers, two 3-pointers, and he was 2-of-2 in his free throw attempts.
Brady Brandenburg totaled 14 points, with the point total coming from six two-point baskets, plus he was 2-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Zach Igo totaled seven points, finishing with a two-point bucket, a 3-pointer, and he was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Jackson Tedford finished with six points off three two-point baskets, while Jonah Michael had five points off a two-pointer and 3-pointer. Christopher Wessner ended the game with two points.
WHS team totals were 21 two-point baskets, nine 3-pointers, and they went 9-of-13 from the free-throw line.
Ripley was led in scoring by Gavin Benjamin with 21 points.
RHS totals consisted of 20 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and they went 10-of-15 from the free-throw line.

Indians lose tough game at Jackson
The Hillsboro Indians suffered a tough Frontier Athletic Conference loss on Friday night, falling in a road game to the Jackson Ironmen by a 54-36 score.
HHS saw their second-leading scorer, Tate Davis, injured in the second quarter, as he didn’t return to the game.
The Indians’ first quarter saw them score 10 points, but Jackson held a four-point lead as they scored 14 points in the quarter.
HHS was outscored by one point in the second at 9-8, and they trailed at halftime by a 23-18 score.
The third frame saw the Ironmen win the frame at 15-8, and in the fourth quarter Jackson scored 16 points and HHS added 10 points to their side of the scoreboard.
Hillsboro’s leading scorer was Jack Howland with 12 points, ending the game with three two-point baskets, and he went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.
Tre Captain totaled nine points with four two-pointers and he was 1-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Dylan Dixon ended the game with seven points, with his points consisting of three two-pointers and he was 1-of-1 in his free throw attempt.
Mason Dumpert totaled three points off a two-point basket and one free throw in one attempt. Scoring two points each were Davis and Brady Juillerat, and finishing with one point was Brayden Hunter.
HHS totaled 13 two-point baskets, and they went 10-of-15 from the free-throw line.
Jackson was led by Charlie Woodward with 16 points and Bodhi Wolford with 15 points.
The Ironmen totaled 14 two-point baskets, six 3-pointers, and they were 8-of-14 from the free-throw line

Mustangs win SHAC game at West Union
Lynchburg-Clay boys basketball celebrated a big Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Friday night, defeating the host West Union Dragons by 11 points at 67-56.
LCHS in their SHAC win trailed after the first quarter at 17-14 and at halftime by a 28-24 score following a 11-10 quarter led by the Dragons.
The Mustangs came back strong in the third quarter with a 20-17 frame in their favor, leaving the Dragons in front by just a single point at 45-44. LCHS took over the lead in the fourth quarter with a dominant 23-11 third frame for the 11-point win.
Denver Clinton was the top scorer for the Mustangs against West Union with a 27-point effort. Clinton totaled seven two pointers, three 3-pointers and he was also 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
Elam Faust totaled 13 points, ending the game with three 3-pointers, one two-pointer and he was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Trevor Niehaus followed with 11 points, totaling two 3-pointers, one two-point basket and he finished 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
The rest of the LCHS scoring included Asher Faust with six points off three two-point baskets, Cody Bell with six points off two 3-pointers and Braedon West finished with four points off a 3-pointer and free throw (1-for-2 from the FT line).
“I’m proud of our kids’ resilience and ability to keep their poise to grind out a win,” LCHS head coach Kyle Pertuset said. “We were able to settle in throughout the second half and get the ball where it needed to be. The zone they play is hard to replicate in practice but we felt our kids adjusted.
“Any time you can get a road win in this league, you'll take it. Watching the tape leading up to the game, you won't see many teams that have improved as much as West Union, which is largely in part due to the job Coach Barr is doing over there.”
LCHS finished with 12 two-point baskets, 11 3-pointers, and they went 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. West Union finished with 11 two-point baskets, seven 3-pointers, and from the free-throw line they finished 13-of-16.

Fairfield battles to defeat Manchester
Friday saw the Fairfield Lions add another Southern Hills Athletic Conference win to their overall total, this time defeating the host Fayetteville Rockets by eight points at 47-39, avenging a loss from earlier in the season.
Fairfield led 11-7 when the first quarter came to a close, and then they were outscored by the host Rockets, 14-9 in the second quarter for a 21-20 score with Fayetteville leading at halftime.
The third quarter was a success for the Lions, outscoring the Rockets 16-6, and in the fourth quarter it was Fayetteville scoring 12 points and the Lions scoring 11.
Griffin Friend led the Lions with 16 points, totaling one 3-pointer, three two-point baskets, and he was 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Logan McIntosh totaled 13 points with a two-point bucket, two 3-pointers, plus he was 5-of-6 with his free throw attempts.
Caleb Barrera totaled nine points with one two-pointer, two 3-pointers and he finished 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Chase Newman ended the game with six points off two 3-pointers, while Quentin McIntosh totaled two points and Brody Smith scored one point.
The Lions finished the SHAC road game with six two-point baskets, seven 3-pointers, and they were 14-of-20 from the free-throw line.
Fayetteville was led by Charlie Coffman with 13 points. The Rockets ended the game with nine two pointers, three 3-pointers, and they were 11-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Lions earn win at Manchester
Back on the road for a second consecutive day, the Fairfield Lions took home another Southern Hills Athletic Conference win, keeping them in first place in the SHAC Division II standings, defeating Manchester 46-42.
The Greyhounds led the Lions 17-10 at the conclusion of the first quarter, and the Lions outscored Manchester 14-13 in the second quarter, leaving Manchester in the lead at halftime by a 30-24 score.
Fairfield dominated the third quarter at 17-2, and in the fourth frame FHS had five points, while the Greyhounds made the game close with a 10-point fourth quarter.
Brody Smith bounced back with a 22-point game to lead the Lions, finishing with four 3-pointers, four two-pointers and he was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Griffin Friend finished with 14 points, making three two pointers, two 3-pointers, and he was 2-of-4 in his free throw attempts.
The Lions also had scoring from Caleb Barrera with five points (one 3-pointer, 2-for-2 FT), Logan McIntosh with three points (two-point basket, 1-for-1 FT) and Quentin McIntosh with two points (one basket).
Team totals for the Lions included seven 3-pointers, nine two-point baskets, and they were 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
The win improves Fairfield to 9-2 in the SHAC Division II standings, leaving them in first place. Overall, the Lions are 12-5 this season.

LC Mustangs fall by 4 to Westfall
Hosting their Hall of Fame night, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs hosted the Westfall Mustangs, where it was Westfall winning by a 58-54 score in overtime Saturday night.
LCHS led 16-12 when the first quarter ended, and the home team held a halftime lead by a single points at 28-27 following a 15-12 second quarter that went to Westfall.
The Mustangs from Lynchburg-Clay held a 41-37 lead after three quarters after outscoring Westfall 13-10 in the third. The fourth quarter saw LCHS score six points, while Westfall scored 10 points, leaving the score tied at 47-47 at the end of regulation.
In overtime, Westfall outscored LCHS, 11-7 to seal the victory.
For Lynchburg-Clay, Cody Bell finished with 15 points, as he made five two pointers and he was 5-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Denver Clinton totaled 14 points with three two-point field goals, two 3-pointers, and he was 2-of-3 in his free throw attempts.
Trevor Niehaus ended the game with 13 points, with four two-point baskets, and he was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Other scoring totals for LCHS were Asher Faust with six points (three two-point baskets), Braedon West with four points (two two-point baskets), and Elam Faust had two points off one basket.
LCHS totaled 18 two-point field goals, two 3-pointers, and they were 12-of-17 in their free throw attempts.
Westfall was led in scoring by Joe Wray and Haden Rigsby with 14 points apiece.
WHS finished with 15 two-pointers, seven 3-pointers, and they went 7-of-16 from the free-throw line.
The LC Mustangs are now 7-10 overall and have a SHAC Division I record of 6-5.
