Tigers, Lady Tigers host home wrestling invitationals; Hillsboro competes in both events

The McClain Tigers and Lady Tigers wrestling teams recently held their home wrestling invitationals, where the McClain boys won their home event at McClain High School. 

The 2025 Southern Hills Community Bank Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 27 saw the boys win their tournament with a score of 209 points. 

In second place was Adena at 182.5, and in third place overall was Greeneview at 158. The rest of the Top 5 included Centennial at 154 and New Lexington at 153.5.

The sixth- through 12th-place teams were: Paint Valley (122), Miami Trace (120), Hillsboro (102.5), Northeastern (57), East Clinton (54), Briggs (43) and Dunbar (0). 

McClain’s placers in the event were Keegan Parker (first place, 106), Adam Coleman (fifth place, 120), Owen Sykes (fifth place, 126), Zayne Knisley (first place, 132), Kenny Hilderbrand (fourth place, 132), Isaac Morgan (first place, 138), Dalton Rowland (first place, 144), Carlos Gonzalez (third place, 157), Cameron Skaggs (sixth place, 175), Hunter Skaggs (second place, 190) and Braydin Simmons (sixth place, 285). 

Hillsboro placers in the event at McClain High School were: Landon Frazier (first place, 126), Kenneth Miller (third place, 126), Benjamin Souder (sixth place, 132), Robert Souder (third place, 138), Jace Zugg (fifth place, 157), Andrew Shelton (second place, 285) and Connor Yochum (fourth place, 285). 

On Sunday, Dec. 28 at McClain High School (McClain Gym), the Lady Tigers hosted the Roman Family Healthcare Ladies Classic where MHS placed seventh place overall with a score of 114. 

Also competing at the event were the Hillsboro Lady Indians, where they were third place overall at 134 points. Winning the 17-team event was Miami Trace with a score of 189.5. 

McClain had the following placers in their home invitational event: Maddie Brown (fifth place, 115), Lexie Burns (fourth place, 120), Chimera Bryant (fourth place, 135), Izzie Carter (second place, 145), Sarah Kegley (second place, 235) and K.C. Foster (second place, 235). 

Hillsboro placers were: Miley Messer (first place, 100), Isabella Storer (fifth place, 120), Arrielle Burns (second place, 125), Peyton Hipsher (first place, 140) and Khloe Daniels (third place, 170).
