Hillsboro earns 4-set volleyball win over McClain

Playing four sets against their Highland County rival, the Hillsboro Lady Indians gained a win in Frontier Athletic Conference play by defeating the McClain Lady Tigers Tuesday at HHS.

HHS won sets one, two and four by scores of 25-23, 25-16 and 26-24. McClain won set three with a score of 25-14.

The Lady Indians with the win totaled 35 kills as a team, along with 95 digs, 66 serve receptions, 31 assists, six aces and three blocks.

Tylee Davis led the Lady Indians with 13 kills, while Ryan Wagoner and Davis each had two aces. Samantha Tipton was the Hillsboro leader in total blocks with two, and leading the team in digs was Davis with 31. Hillsboro’s Kayla Seeling was the team leader in assists with 29.

Other standouts for Hillsboro were Ryan Wagoner with 17 digs, Jadi Howland with 16 digs, Seeling with 10 digs and Tipton with eight kills.

Service receiving leaders for HHS also included Wagoner (14), Addison Huff (14) and Davis (11).

The loss moves McClain to 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the FAC. Hillsboro improves to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the FAC standings.

Next for HHS is a road match on Thursday, Sept. 20 on the road at Chillicothe.

McClain is now 5-10 on the season and 2-3 in the FAC.
