Hillsboro boys, McClain girls each place 2nd at 2023 FAC Track and Field Championships

The Hillsboro Indians boys team placed second in the 2023 Frontier Athletic Conference Meet on Tuesday and Thursday this week at Hillsboro High School.

HHS finished with 139 points for second, and the McClain boys team placed sixth overall with 59.50 points. Chillicothe won the event with a score of 151.50, followed by Jackson in third at 118, Washington in fourth at 101, and Miami Trace was fifth place with a score of 81.

FAC champions for the Hillsboro boys included Steven Kibler in the long jump with a height of 6-02.00.

Another FAC champion for the Indians was Jack Wagoner, as he had a leap of 20-00.00 in the long jump event.

Hillsboro’s 4x800-meter relay team was a first-place finisher as the team of Nick Turner, Chris Sowders, Ryan Howland and Tate Davis finished with a time of 9:42.84.

Cameron Smart of HHS was the FAC champion in the 300m hurdles with a time of 41.51. Hillsboro’s Nick Turner set a new FAC meet record in the 800 meter run with a first-place time of 2:03.60.

McClain had a FAC champion in the boys event with Michael Stevenson placing first in the discus throw with a distance of 138-09.

On the girls side, the McClain Lady Tigers placed second in the 2023 Frontier Athletic Conference Meet.

MHS finished with 132.50 points for second, and the Hillsboro girls team placed fifth overall with 84.50 points. Chillicothe won the event with a score of 161.50, followed by Miami Trace in third at 117.50, Washington in fourth at 106, and Jackson was sixth place with a score of 45.

McClain totaled four individual FAC champions, and two of those were by Lily Barnes, who won the discus championship with a distance of 111-08 and the shot put with a distance of 36-09. Mylie Lovett won the high jump event with a height of 5-00.00. Becca Bergstrom was the pole vault champion at 9-01.00 (a school record).

The HHS girls won the 4x800-meter relay event with runners Jailyn Williams, Ramsey Haines, Brooklyn Minton and Taylor Thoroman finishing with a time of 10:30.16.
