Lions fall by 1 goal to Portsmouth-Clay 

Hosting Portsmouth-Clay in a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at FHS, the Fairfield Lions lost by a 1-0 score. 

The Lions did have junior keeper Anderson Humphreys finish the match with five saves. For the contest, the Lions had seven shots with six shots on goal. 

Fairfield is now 6-3-1 overall, and they have a SHAC record of 2-2-0.

Wednesday, Sept. 23 and Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026
Wildcats lose matches to North Adams and NWHS

Playing two matches on back-to-back nights, the Whiteoak Wildcats lost to North Adams and Northwest. 

On Wednesday (Sept. 23), WHS fell to SHAC rival North Adams by a 2-0 score at NAHS. Goals scored by the Green Devils were by junior Jaxson Baldwin and senior Jayden Reckers. 

At goal for WHS was freshman keeper Koltyn Spitznagel, who totaled 19 saves. North Adams keeper, senior Thad Moore, had seven saves. 

Traveling to Northwest High School on Thursday evening, the Wildcats fell by a 4-2 score to non-conference opponent, the Northwest Mohawks.

WHS had two goals scored by junior Christopher Wessner with an assist by senior Joao Portiho. The Wildcats had 15 saves by Spitznagel. 

Following the two matches, Whiteoak now stands at 3-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the SHAC.

Thursday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept. 25, 2026 
Lynchburg-Clay drops SHAC match to Fayetteville; defeats Peebles

Facing the Fayetteville Rockets in SHAC action on Thursday, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs lost via shutout to the host Rockets by a 2-0 score. 

Fayetteville had two goals scored by senior Hayden Coule. Freshman Jace Wells had one assists for FHS. At goal for the Rockets was senior Charlie Jordan, who finished with seven saves. 

On Friday, the Mustangs rebounded with a 16-0 win in SHAC play against the visiting Peebles Indians. 

LCHS had goals from: sophomore Owen Faust (two), senior Levi Fields (three), sophomore Luke Flowers, sophomore Zander Odum (three), senior Sam Turner, junior Brayden Warne (three) and junior Quin Wells (three). 

Assists were credited to sophomore Jason Butler, senior Mason Fisher, junior Harley Lewis, Warne and freshman Korbin Williams (two). 

LCHS keeper, sophomore Hayden West, had two saves. 

The Mustangs are now 6-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the SHAC.

LCHS defeats Peebles, falls to Fayetteville

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs earned a 1-0 SHAC win over the visiting Peebles Lady Indians on Wednesday (Sept. 23). 

LCHS had their lone goal scored by junior Lily Ferguson with the assist from freshman Addi Haygood. At goal for LCHS was senior Savannah Bell with three saves. 

The following day, the Lady Mustangs lost to the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, 3-0 on Thursday evening (Sept. 24). 

At goal for LCHS was Bell with 11 saves. Goals scored by Fayetteville were made by senior Aubrey Barber, senior Cara Rummel and sophomore Kenna Stratton. 
Assists went to Barber and sophomore Cassidy Rhinehimer.

The win and loss by LCHS leave them with an overall record of 2-6-1 with a SHAC record of 2-2-0.

Lady Lions defeat Peebles; lose to Alexander

On Monday (Sept. 21) the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated the Peebles Lady Indians, 3-0 at PHS in Southern Hills Athletic Conference play. 

FHS had goals scored by sophomore Brya Fauber, senior Vivian Henninger and freshman Oakley Purvis. Assists went to Henninger and senior Kaylee Hurless-Miller. 

At goal for FHS was senior Meri Jackson with two saves. 

In a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 26, the Lady Lions lost to visiting Alexander, 3-0. 

The win and loss moves Fairfield to an overall record of 6-3-2 with a SHAC mark of 2-1-1.

Indians shut out by Ironmen 

The Hillsboro Indians lost a Frontier Athletic Conference contest to the visiting Jackson Ironmen on Thursday evening by a 3-0 score. 

Jackson’s goals were scored by junior Alvero Garcia with two and senior Isaiah Armstrong with one. Assists were credited to junior Zane Hoyt, junior Archili Ivechiani and junior Xavier Ramos. 

At goal for JHS was junior Tanner Jenkins with two saves. 

HHS now has an overall record of 2-7-1 with an FAC record of 1-3-0.

Lady Indians shut out Jackson 

The Hillsboro girls soccer team earned an important win in FAC action on Thursday evening by defeating the Jackson Ironladies at HHS by a 3-0 score. 

Hillsboro’s goals were scored by sophomore Ellie Brandyberry, and two goals were made by junior Ella Jordan. Assists were made by Brandyberry, senior Arianna Evans and sophomore Parker Wilkin. 

At goal for the Lady Indians was junior Morgan Kelch. 

Hillsboro now has an overall record of 7-3-0 with an FAC record of 4-1-0.
