Wildcats fall to visiting Eastern Warriors
The Eastern Warriors were too strong for the Whiteoak Wildcats in their Wednesday boys basketball Southern Hills Athletic Conference game, with EHS defeating the Wildcats, 68-45.
Eastern took control of the game early on with a 20-8 first quarter, then added another 20 points in the second, while WHS scored 13 points, leaving the halftime lead for EHS at 19 points by a 40-21 score.
The next two frames saw Whiteoak score 15 points in the third and 13 points in the fourth for their overall total of 45 points. Eastern added 16 points in the third quarter and followed that with an eight-point fourth quarter.
Sawyer Blair ended as the high scorer for the Wildcats with 18 points, totaling five two-point buckets and he was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Brady Brandenburg finished with 10 points in the WHS loss, making five two-pointers.
Zander Roades followed with nine points, collecting points off two two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and he was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
WHS also had points from Zach Igo (4), Jackson Tedford (2) and Jonah Michael (2).
For the game, team totals for the Wildcats included 16 two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and they were a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Eastern was led in scoring by Braxton Vance with 15 points, Kade Walkup with 13 points, and with 10 points each were Chase Pinkerton and Landon Koehler.
WHS is now 5-7 in the SHAC Division II standings and 8-11 overall. Eastern improves to 8-3 in Division I of the SHAC and 13-4 overall.

Hillsboro battles to defeat Whiteoak
In a battle of Highland County counterparts, Whiteoak of the SHAC and Hillsboro of the FAC faced each other at WHS on Wednesday where it was Hillsboro gaining the upper hand in the second half, winning by a 45-38 score.
HHS led after the first quarter by a 9-6 score, but WHS came back in the second to outscore the Lady Indians 13-6 for a halftime score of 19-15.
The first-half scoring for the Lady Indians included four points by Peighton Bledsoe in the first quarter, four points from Kyra Boyd and one point from Tylee Davis. The second frame for HHS saw Kobie Miles, Davis and Annia Young each score two points.
Whiteoak in the first quarter had one 3-pointer apiece from Addy Hauke and Charli Hauke. The second frame had nine points from Jillian Lucas and four points by Kylee Hamm.
WHS was held to three points in the third frame with two points from Hamm, and a free throw was made by Charli Hauke. Hillsboro scored 14 points in the third, building a 29-22 lead, with their third-frame points being scored by Miles with five points, Davis with five points, and two points each from Bledsoe and Boyd.
Hillsboro kept their lead with a 16-point fourth quarter, and Whiteoak also scored 16 points in the fourth.
For the Lady ‘Cats in the final frame, they had five points from Hamm, five points by Lucas, three points by Addy Hauke, and two points from Addison Roberts.
The Lady Indians’ fourth-quarter points had nine points scored by Boyd and two points each from Bledsoe, Davis and Dinah Ames, plus one point by Miles.
Hillsboro overall was led in scoring by Boyd with 15 points, as she made five two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and she was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Davis totaled 10 points in the win off two two-pointers, one 3-pointer, and she went 3-of-4 in her free throw attempts.
Other final scoring totals by HHS included: Bledsoe (8), Miles (8), Ames (2) and Young (2). HHS team totals were 14 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and they were 8-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Whiteoak’s leading scorer was Lucas with 14 points, as she collected four two-pointers and two 3-pointers. WHS also had 11 points scored by Hamm with two two-pointers, a 3-pointer, and she was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Other WHS final scoring totals included: Addy Hauke (6) Charli Hauke (4) and Roberts (3).
WHS team totals were seven two-point buckets, six 3-pointes, and they were 6-of-10 from the free-throw line.
The win improves Hillsboro to 18-3 overall. WHS is now 13-6 overall.

Fairfield falls to SHAC Div. II champion Fayetteville
Traveling to SHAC Division II counterpart Fayetteville on Thursday, the Fairfield Lady Lions were defeated by the reigning Div. II SHAC champion Lady Rockets, 65-35.
Fayetteville gained the lead at the conclusion of the first quarter at 17-13, then the Lady Rockets took complete control of the first half, outscoring the Lady Lions 17-4 in the second for a halftime lead over Fairfield of 34-17.
In their final two quarters, Fayetteville scored 10 points in the third and added 21 points in the fourth quarter. The Lady Lions scored six points in the third and 12 points in the fourth frame.
For the Lady Lions, Vivian Henninger led the way with 11 points, finishing the game with three two-pointers, one 3-pointer and two made free throws.
FHS also had the following final scoring totals: Paisley Stahlhut (6), Kassi Miller (6), Meri Jackson (5), Isabelle Hale (5) and Rilee Quickle (2).
Team totals for Fairfield were seven two-pointers, five 3-pointers, and they were 6-of-17 from the free-throw line.
Fayetteville was led by Cara Rummel with 17 points and with 10 points each were Ryley Kleemeyer and Christina Murphy.
Team totals for the Lady Rockets were 24 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers, and they were 11-of-15 from the free-throw line.
The loss moves Fairfield to an overall record of 6-14, with a SHAC Division II record of 4-8. Fayetteville improves to 12-1 in the SHAC Division II standings and 17-4 overall.
