Tigers take down host Paint Valley

Saturday (April 12) was a winning day for the McClain Tigers baseball squad, with the team going on the road and winning against the Paint Valley Bearcats by a 9-5 score.
McClain’s non-conference win came with a strong starting effort by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, followed by two runs in the fourth, one run in the sixth and a big three-run seventh inning that helped fend off Paint Valley in the final half inning.
Paint Valley scored a run in the bottom of the third, and later that was followed by one run in the fifth and three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
McClain totaled 10 hits in the win, while PVHS had 11 hits. The Tigers also had two errors, while Paint Valley committed one error.
Conner Chandler (9) had a four-hit game, as he was 4-for-5 with three runs and one RBI and a steal.
Six other McClain players each collected a hit, starting with Hudson Lovett going 1-for-5 with one run. Cohen Six finished 1-for-2 with one run, two walks, two steals and was hit by a pitch.
Carson Chandler was 1-for-3 with two RBI and two walks. Hunter Peabody ended his day at 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, a steal and two walks. Also with a hit was Alex Perie at 1-for-4, and Kolton Lamb was 1-for-4 with a run.
Easton Ary finished with two walks, Matthew Cummins scored a run, and Colton McNeal scored a run and walked once.
Ary was the winning pitcher, going five innings on the mound where he allowed two runs (unearned) on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
Conner Chandler pitched 1.1 innings with three earned runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Six pitched 0.2 innings, allowing no runs on one hit.
The win improves McClain’s record to 2-4 overall this season.
