The McClain varsity baseball team traveled to Miami Trace on Monday, April 15 and handed the Panthers their first Frontier Athletic conference loss the season, a thrilling come-from-behind 11-6 victory. McClain senior Andrew Potts earned the win on the mound.

But on Tuesday in Greenfield, the Panthers, behind senior Brady Armstrong, shut out the Tigers, 7-0.

McClain starting pitcher Kaden Penwell and reliever Easton Ary gave up just a combined seven runs, but the bats for McClain really struggled for most of the ballgame.

“I don’t know if we were just hung over still from Monday’s big win, it just looked like we were just going through the motions,” McClain head coach Kenny Branscom said. “We just weren’t ready to play mentally, and when we finally got to make some things happen, the ball just wouldn’t fall our way.

“KP (Kaden Penwell) started on the mound for us and just didn’t have his best stuff, but he kept fighting over the first four innings for us and gave up six runs but sophomore Easton Ary came in and really shut them down the rest of the way.”
