Tigers fall by 1 run at Miami Trace

The McClain Tigers baseball team nearly pulled off a Frontier Athletic Conference win on Wednesday, but the Miami Trace Panthers were too strong in the sixth inning, leading to MHS falling to the host Panthers, 3-2.

McClain led 2-0 after a two-run third inning, but MTHS scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth inning for the 3-2 win.

MHS finished with six hits and committed two errors, and MTHS had nine hits and one error.

Andrew Potts led McClain at 2-for-3 with a steal. Seth Weller was 1-for-4 with a run, Haydon Hice went 1-for-3 with a run and Kaden Penwell was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Gavin Warren was 1-for-2 with a steal, and Owen Sykes had a steal.

Hice pitched for the Tigers and had the loss. He allowed three runs (one earned) on nine hits and no walks. Hice finished with six strikeouts in six innings. He threw 95 pitches, 67 for strikes, and faced 29 batters.

MHS stands at 6-8-1 overall.
