McClain softball loses twice to Jackson in consecutive days
In a span of two days in Greenfield and Jackson, the McClain Lady Tigers lost to the Jackson Ironladies by scores of 10-4 and 7-0.
Tuesday night (April 9) saw the Ironladies have 14 hits, while McClain had four hits in the Frontier Athletic Conference game, as JHS won by a 10-4.
For the game, the Ironladies had two errors, while MHS committed six errors.
Jackson and McClain were tied at 1-1 after the first inning, but in the top of the third, it was Jackson scoring four runs for a 5-1 lead.
Next, the Ironladies added two more runs in the top of the fourth, and McClain answered with a two-run bottom of the fifth inning. Both teams scored a run in the sixth inning, and the Ironladies added two final runs in the top of the seventh for the six-run win in Greenfield.
Brie Cummins had half of the Lady Tigers’ hits, as she was 2-for-3 with one run and a walk, plus she collected a steal.
Leah Lovett finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk, as her hit was a double. Allie Flowers went 1-for-2 with a walk, one run and one RBI as her stat line all occurred on a home run.
Other stats by MHS included Lindsey Hutchinson with a run and Sarah Easter with a run and walk.
Gracie Bowers was charged with the loss in the circle with four innings pitched. She allowed three earned runs on 10 hits and one walk with one strikeout.
Haley Worthen went three innings on the mound, where she allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

The following day on Wednesday, April 10, the Lady Tigers lost to Jackson by a 7-0 score in FAC action.
MHS totaled three hits and committed two errors, while Jackson finished the game with 13 hits and one error.
Jackson’s runs occurred with a one-run first inning, two runs in the fifth, and a four-run sixth inning.
Lovett finished 1-for-3, for McClain, while teammate Flowers was 1-for-3 (a double), and Bowers went 1-for-2. Harley Peabody drew a walk.
Bowers pitched 3.2 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits and one walk, while collecting two strikeouts. Worthen pitched 2.1 innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits and three walks, as she also had two strikeouts.
MHS is now 4-7 overall this season and 1-3 in the FAC.
