McClain senior Brenna Wright will conclude her successful track and field season at state for a third straight year, but in a new event, as she earned a spot in the 300-meter hurdles in the Division II OHSAA State Track and Field Championships June 6-7 at Jesse Owens Stadium at The Ohio State University.
Wright qualified for state with a fourth-place finish Saturday at the OHSAA Division II Region 7 meet at Muskingum University, as she finished with a time of 45.44. According to the McClain Athletic Department, this may be both a personal record and school record. At the prelims on Thursday, Wright was third with a time of 46.19.
Wright was a Frontier Athletic Conference champion in the 300m hurdles with a then-record time of 46.00, and she won the Southeast District title in the event with a time of 46.28.
As a junior, Wright was a state qualifier in the 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay and the 100m hurdles. She competed at the state meet as a sophomore in both the 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relay.
