GREENFIELD — The McClain Lady Tigers varsity volleyball team lost in straight sets to Frontier Athletic Conference leading Chillicothe Tuesday in Greenfield.

The Lady Cavaliers won convincingly in all three games by scores of 25-14, 25-9, and 25-5.

Despite losing to the very athletic and experienced Chillicothe team, McClain head coach Cierra Bolender still had some good things to talk about after the match.

“Overall we are still struggling to find a way to get something going for a longer period of time during the match,” she said. “We have moments where we look great, but then struggle to keep ahold of the runs which hurts us later in sets. Tonight, especially in the earlier sets we were not helping ourselves because of several unforced errors and being out of system more than we should be.

“I keep telling my girls, we are very close to clicking, but we haven’t fired on all cylinders at the same time. Once we get that figured out, we will be much better off.”

Brynlee Karnes, Brooklyn Bolender, and Alaya Jackson led McClain with three kills each. Bolender also led the team with three digs and Allie Havens had five assists.

“Brooklyn (Bolender) has worked really hard on her swings, she’s gotten progressively better and it was good to see her get some good kills tonight,” Bolender said. “Allie Havens is just a sophomore who has really adapted to her new position as setter and she continues to do great things. Alaya (Jackson) and Brynlee (Karnes) both carry a large offensive load and it’s exciting to watch them continue to pound the ball.”

The Lady Tigers will be back on the hardwood Thursday, Oct. 1 when they host FAC foe Washington.
