Lady Tigers soccer shuts out Chillicothe

GREENFIELD — The McClain varsity girls soccer team under the direction of head coach Blain Bergstrom are off to a great start to the season after defeating conference rival Chillicothe 6-0 Wednesday night.
With the Frontier Athletic Conference victory, the Lady Tigers have now won four games in a row after a season opening loss at Unioto.
McClain had four different girls score goals in the match agains CHS, led by junior Paisley Pryor who had two. Pryor got things going early with a quick goal at the 32:11 mark from an assist by Larah Henson.
Senior Addison Olaker scored McClain’s second goal at the 21:56 mark, followed by another goal seconds later by Mylie Lovett at the 21:32 mark for a quick 3-0 advantage.
Pryor ended the first half scoring with her second goal with 11:03 left in the first half putting the Lady Tigers up 4-0.
McClain continued to play well on both ends of the field and scored the only goals of the second half, one by senior Becca Bergstrom on an incredible shot from a free-kick 45 yards away from the net, and the second by Kayleigh Scott which was her first career varsity goal.
The win also marked the first win by a Lady Tiger soccer team against Chillicothe in school history.
McClain traveled to Peebles on Saturday, August 23 and earned a hard-fought 5-2 victory in a very physical non-conference battle.
The Lady Tigers led 2-0 at halftime and out-scored the hosts 3-2 in the second half.
Paisley Pryor scored two goals, followed by single goals from Larah Henson, Lydia Mootispaw, and Addison Olaker.
Assists by the Lady Tigers in the Peebles game was Bergstrom and Olaker with one each.
The Lady Tigers now 4-1 on the season will entertain conference foe Washington Thursday, Aug. 28 with a 7 p.m. start time.
