Lady Tigers fall in matches against WBHS, Washington and Jackson

Playing three matches this past week, the McClain Lady Tigers faced the Western Brown Lady Broncos in non-conference play, then they faced both Washington and Jackson in Frontier Athletic Conference action. 

On Monday, Sept. 14 the Lady Tigers lost to the Lady Broncos of Western Brown in three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-3. 

McClain battled to have 11 kills, two aces, 26 digs, and nine assists. 

Sophomore Brynlee Karnes and junior Alaya Jackson led MHS with three kills each, while sophomores Brylee Douglas and Allie Havens each had two kills. Junior Brooklyn Bolender had one kill. 

Aces were made by Douglas and Jackson with one each. Seniors Adalynn Snyder and Shelby Wise each led McClain with eight digs against WBHS, while Bolender had five digs. Havens finished with three digs, and teammates Karnes and Jackson each had one dig. Havens led MHS with five assists, while senior Molly McCune collected four assists. 

The next day on Tuesday, Sept. 15 McClain traveled to Fayette County where they lost in four sets to the Washington Lady Blue Lions at WHS in FAC play. MHS won set three by a 25-19 score. 

Washington won set one (25-11), set two (25-19) and set four (25-11). 

MHS totaled 27 kills against Washington with Karnes totaling 13, and other kill totals included Snyder (six), Jackson (six), and Havens (two). The Lady Tigers also had nine aces with Jackson collecting four, and she was followed by Bolender (two), Wise (one), Karnes (one), and McCune (one). 

The digs leader for MHS was Snyder with 10, while Bolender, Jackson and Wise each had eight. Havens totaled four digs, while Karnes had four, and McCune finished with three as the Lady Tigers finished with 46 digs. 

Leading in assists was Havens with 11, while McCune totaled nine. Having one assist each were Douglas and Wise as MHS totaled 22 assists. 

On Thursday, Sept. 17 the Lady Tigers were back on the road in FAC action, dropping a match to the Jackson Ironladies in four sets. 

McClain won the third set by a 25-17 score. Jackson won set one by a 25-21 score, set two at 25-16, and set four at 25-12.

In the match at JHS, McClain finished with 41 kills, five aces, two blocks, 79 digs, and 33 assists. 

McClain was led in kills by Karnes with 15, and next was Jackson with 12. Douglas totaled four kills. Bolender finished with five kills, and Havens also had five kills. 

The ace leader for McClain was Jackson with three, and next was Karnes with two. MHS also had two blocks with Douglas and Karnes each having one.

The Lady Tigers finished with 79 digs as Bolender totaled 17 for the team lead, followed with 14 from Jackson. Wise, McCune, and Havens each ended the match with 11 digs, while Karnes had 10. Also finishing with five digs was Douglas. 

McClain is now 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the FAC. 

Next for McClain is a FAC rivalry match on Tuesday, Sept. 22 on the road against the Hillsboro Lady Indians (2-2, 9-3) at  6:30 p.m. at HHS.
