Lady Tigers fall in home game to Waverly

Getting to play under the lights in Greenfield on Saturday night (April 13), the McClain Lady Tigers played a non-conference game against the Waverly Lady Tigers, falling by a 9-2 score. 

McClain finished with four hits and committed four errors, while their opponent, Waverly, finished with seven hits and committed two errors. 

Olivia Stegbauer finished 2-for-3 at the plate — including a double — for McClain, as she also collected one RBI. Leah Lovett (1-for-3) and Sarah Easter (1-for-2) each had one hit against Waverly. 

Brie Cummins forced three walks and scored a run, while Allie Flowers and Amaya Ryan each were hit by a pitch, as Ryan scored one run. Ryan also had a steal for the Lady Tigers of McClain. 

Gracie Bowers pitched for MHS, and in 1.2 innings, allowed no runs, one hit, one walk and she had one strikeout. 

Haley Worthen went 5.1 innings in the circle, allowing four earned runs on six hits and four walks with eight strikeouts. 

McClain’s runs were scored in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the seventh innings. Waverly scored four runs in the top of the third, then they added three more runs in the top of the sixth and two final runs in the seventh inning. 

The loss puts MHS at 4-8 overall.
