Big 6th inning leads to Tigers loss at Chillicothe

A big sixth inning by the Chillicothe Cavaliers led to a McClain Tigers loss on the baseball diamond on Tuesday in Ross County, as the Cavaliers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth, breaking a 3-3 tied score that led to a 7-3 McClain loss.

Each team finished the Frontier Athletic Conference game with five hits, and each team also committed two errors Tuesday (April 15).

The Tigers held a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning, then led 3-0 with a two-run third inning. Chillicothe began their comeback with a two-run fourth inning, followed by one run in the fifth, then came the four-run sixth inning to complete the scoring.

McClain had two hits from Cohen Six, who was 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI as one of his two hits was a double, plus he added a stolen base.

Conner Chandler went 1-for-3 with a walk, Alex Perie finished 1-for-3, and Kolton Lamb was 1-for-3. Hudson Lovett finished with a walk and a stolen base.

Chandler pitched one inning, allowing three runs (none earned) on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts. Easton Ary was charged with the loss, pitching five innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks with six strikeouts.

The loss sends McClain to an overall record of 2-5 this season.
