Tigers drop road game to Jackson 

In their Frontier Athletic Conference game Tuesday night at Jackson, the McClain Tigers lost to the host Ironmen, 44-36. 

The two team were tied at 8-8 in the first quarter, and the biggest difference in the game was the second frame as McClain was outscored 17-7, resulting in the Tigers trailing 25-15 at halftime. 

The third frame saw McClain win the quarter at 15-13, and both teams scored six points in the fourth quarter. 

For the Tigers, they were led in scoring by Seth Weller with 10 points, making two 3-pointers, plus  he grabbed five rebounds and had one steal. 

Andrew Potts followed with eight points, one rebound and three assists. 

McClain had seven points scored by Owen Sykes, as he also added eight rebounds. Michael Noszka Jr. totaled six points, scoring his points off 3-pointers, while the rest of the Tigers’ scoring included Jordan Bell with three points (a 3-pointer) and Jayden Allison finishing with two points. Riley Cummins collected a steal and one assist. 

Boston Campbell led the Ironmen with 15 points against the Tigers. MHS committed 14 turnovers, and Jackson had 10 turnovers. 

McClain now stands at 2-10 overall and 0-6 in the FAC.

Mustangs fall to Blanchester 

On Tuesday night (Jan. 9), the Lynchburg-Clay dropped a non-conference road game to the host Blanchester Wildcats by a 59-45 score. 

LCHS trailed 15-5 when the fourth quarter came to a close, and after each team scored six points in the second frame, it was LCHS trailing 21-11 at halftime. 

BHS scored 15 points in the third and added 23 points in the fourth quarter, while LCHS added 11 points in the third and 23 points in the fourth and final frame. 

Braedon West finished with 13 points for LCHS, with Cody Bell also scoring 13 points. 

Also for the Mustangs, Austin Bell added 11 points, Cairen Goings totaled four points, Josiah Burns scored three points and Trevor Niehaus scored one point. 

The loss moves LCHS to 5-7 overall.

Wildcats lose SHAC game to Eastern 

In one of their tougher tests of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference schedule, the Whiteoak Wildcats fell to the visiting Eastern Warriors, 61-22 Tuesday evening. 

The game started with Eastern leading 27-2 after the first frame, and following a 14-10 second quarter that was in favor of the Warriors, the Wildcats trailed 41-12 at halftime. 

In the second half, WHS added six points in the third and four points in the fourth, while EHS scored 14 points in the third quarter and six points in the fourth frame. 

Sawyer Blair led Whiteoak with eight points, followed by Zander Roades with six points. Also scoring points for the Wildcats were Tyler Wessner (4), Weston Blair (3) and Brady Brandenburg (1). 

WHS was led in rebounding by Sawyer Blair with four, while Jonah Michael led the team in assists with two. Weston Blair had a block for the Wildcats. 

The loss moves Whiteoak to 3-2 in the SHAC Division II standings and 3-6 overall.
