Leesburg's Ethan Davis finishes 3rd in annual Flying Pig Marathon
The annual Flying Pig Marathon took place Sunday, May 3 in Cincinnati, where Leesburg native Ethan Davis finished third overall out of 4,707 runners.
Davis, 23, is a 2020 graduate of Fairfield High School, where he was a state qualifier and All-Ohio honoree in cross-country. He also competed at the collegiate level as a member of the cross-country and track and field teams at Queens University of Charlotte.
For his Top 3 finish at the Flying Pig Sunday, Davis had a time of 2:28.05 overall, finishing behind winner Sean Ryan, 23, of Tampa (2:22.41) and runner-up Bridger Altice, 24, of Hamilton (2:26.05).
Davis’ race included an average pace of 5:40, as he reached the 6.4-mile mark in 36 minutes and 19 seconds. His 11.6-mile time was 1:05.29, and he reached the halfway mark at 1:13.41.
Davis followed that with a 19.2-mile time of 1:47.11 and a 25-mile time of 2:20.46 en route to his 2:28.05 finish.
There were other area runners at the marathon Sunday as well, including Hillsboro’s Michael Boone (240th overall, 3:14.08), Tim King (2,515th overall, 4:30.20), Ronda Tener (2,918th overall, 4:43.09) and Keeley Schurman (4,515th overall, 6:24.50); and Lynchburg’s Drew Roberts (1,539th overall, 4:01.23), Rebecca Swearingen (3,722th overall, 5:16.01) and Jessica Beachy (4,139th overall, 5:39:04), among others.
