LEESBURG — The first time on the court for the 2025 season, the Fairfield Lady Lions gained a non-conference victory over the Williamsburg Lady Wildcats in four sets, Friday (Aug. 15) at Grandle Gymnasium.
The win also marked the first career coaching victory as a varsity head coach for Fairfield alumna Kamryn Daulton.
Fairfield won the first set over Williamsburg at 25-22, but lost set two at 25-19. The Lady Lions came back to win set three at 25-13 and set four at 25-23 for the match win.
“I came into this role very unexpectedly, but it's been so much fun coaching in the same gym that I played in … I’m learning something new every day,” Daulton said. “We have a young but talented roster this season with several dangerous hitters, including senior Jaeden Drury, junior Remi Moon, sophomore Jorja May, sophomore Addison Cannon and many players who are not afraid to get on the floor to make a play.
“From the very beginning, I told the girls that our identity this season was ‘Energy & Effort.’ I told them that they would not only have to prove something to the league this season, but also prove something to themselves following their success from last season. The preview wasn't the best look for them, or myself — but Friday was a different story. The girls get all the credit for that one. I couldn't be more happy to be a role model for this group of girls and to be a part of Fairfield’s volleyball program again.”
