When the opportunity to move into a more handicap-accessible apartment unit came up for a Korean War veteran, Mr. Jimmy Powers of Hillsboro, he knew he didn’t want to miss it. He didn’t know how he would be able to physically move all of his household items with his limited abilities, so he contacted the Highland County Veterans Service Office (HCVSO) to seek help with moving.

The Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival kicks off Friday, Nov. 10, at the Roberts Convention Centre in Wilmington. This is a biannual acoustic music event that occurs each March and November and is celebrating its 27th production this fall. It’s a homecoming of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists and fans gathering to commemorate bluegrass, a truly American style of music.
When the Hillsboro Woman’s Club met at the Senior Citizens Center for their October luncheon meeting, the meeting was attended by Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera and Sergeant Craig Seaman, as well as the department’s K-9 Django.
The McClain High School class of 1962 gathered Sept. 30 for their 55-year reunion. Twenty-two classmates and their guests were treated to a tour of the high school, followed by touring the historical buildings in Greenfield.
On Wednesday, State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) honored Deborah Saunders of Gallipolis, who was named Ohio's 2017 Librarian of the Year. Senator Peterson presented the resolution during a special recognition ceremony at the Ohio Statehouse.
