Tammy Wells' artwork on sale at Greene Countrie Towne Festival

Come find some bargains and help out the community of Greenfield at the annual auction at the Greene Countrie Towne Festival, July 20-22, sponsored by the Greenfield Rotary Club.

Where else can you get some great bargains and also help your community by building up the Rotary bank account?

Thanks to generous area businesses, organizations and individuals, many interesting items will be on sale at the auction, with all proceeds going into the Greenfield Rotary Club's coffers to help maintain the Ralph W. Phillips Recreation and Civic Center and finance other worthwhile projects in the community.

Many items will be offered for sale this year, including 10 limited-edition prints by artist Tammy Wells featuring the American Pad and Textile Company, also known as TAPATCO, which was the star business in Edward Lee McClain’s conglomerate of firms.

Horse collar pads and other products made by the McClain business enterprise made him a fortune, and he was kind enough to build the amazing art-filled high school that bears his name as a gift to the community.

Thus, TAPATCO and the McClain family hold a unique place in Greenfield history, and the print by Tammy Wells pays tribute to TAPATCO by featuring one of the horse collar pads as well as the huge factory that once stood along South Washington Street.
