Stars Hollow Farm starting new equestrian program

By
-
Stars Hollow Farm LLC, located in Highland County, is now offering a high school and middle school Interscholastic Equestrian Team for sixth-12th grade students.

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) was formed and organized in 2002 to promote and improve the quality of competition and instruction available to middle and high school students. The IEA now has over 5,000 student riders on hundreds of teams across North America. The unique aspect of IEA competitions is that none of the riders will supply their own horses or tack. Instead, the horses, saddles and other tack are provided to the students at the show.

Stars Hollow Farm is currently forming a western team which will compete at the IEA shows beginning in September 2013. IEA western team horse show classes are horsemanship and reining. Each class offers a variety of ability levels from beginner through advanced. Riders will be required to participate in regular practices at Stars Hollow Farm in order to be eligible to compete as part of the team.

The high school and middle school IEA team is a great way to experience showing without the expense of owning a horse, to improve your skills as a rider and to prepare for college riding programs. Through the IEA, students have the opportunity to earn scholarships toward their college education through awards in competition and through sportsmanship activities.

An organizational meeting will be held at Stars Hollow Farm on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. If you would like to attend the meeting or have any questions, call Donna at (937) 466-2330.[[In-content Ad]]
