After taking a year off, the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) Senior Expo is back and set for Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. This popular event will take place at the Scioto County Fairgrounds in Lucasville from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. This year’s theme is “Wild, Wild West."
In the past, the AAA7 Senior Expo has welcomed over 3,000 visitors to this one-day event that has served as a favorite throughout the district. Features at the Senior Expo include exhibit booths, free health screenings, Bingo, door prizes, live entertainment, a cake auction, food, games, and much more. The event’s program will include Dick Lucas, “The Piano Man," from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.; the Veterans Program from 11:30 a.m. until 12 noon; Cake Auction at 12 noon; and the Joe Freeman Band immediately following the Cake Auction until the close of the event.
The entire community is invited and there is no charge for admission. The AAA7 is proud to serve seniors in the following Ohio counties: Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.
In preparation for the event, the AAA7 is seeking sponsors and participants for the event. The AAA7 appreciates the wonderful support from the community in order to make this special event possible. Sponsorship opportunities range from $150 up to $1,000, and a number of sponsorship benefits are included as a part of the packages. Sponsors will be accepted up until the day of the event.
Groups or individuals who would like to participate with a booth are also welcome. Booth space is free and can feature crafts, food, health screenings, information regarding services for seniors, and much more. Booth space is free with a door prize donation. Participants will be responsible for tables and chairs for their booth, although tables and chairs will be provided for sponsors of $150 or more. Those who wish to participate with a booth must inform the AAA7 by Aug. 27, 2010.
“We are so excited to have the opportunity to welcome seniors and the community to a day of fun and fellowship at our 2010 Senior Expo,” commented Pamela K. Matura, Executive Director of the AAA7.  “The Senior Expo has always served as a day for our seniors to learn more about their community, to share time with friends, and most importantly, to have fun.  We certainly hope to see many in our community come out to the Scioto County Fairgrounds on Friday, September 10 to celebrate our senior citizens with us.”
