Hillsboro Garden Club member Rose Marie Cowdrey recently won the 2010 Faye Collins Designer of the Year Award from the Ohio Association of Garden
Clubs.
Established in 1997, the award is the highest honor bestowed on an OAGC member for exceptional floral design.
Mrs. Cowdrey, a 44-year Garden Club member and past president, received notice of the award from Juanita Wilkins, design study chair, and was honored at the July 12 OAGC banquet.
She also earned first-place awards for Creative Design and Special Occasion arrangements from the OAGC.
In addition to the Faye Collins award, Mrs. Cowdrey has received numerous OAGC honors over the years, including: Best of Show five times, the Judges' Award of Distinction multiple times, and the 2010 Outstanding Regional Garden Club Members Award.
Hillsboro Garden Club President Nancy Baldwin nominated her for the regional award.
The award is based on garden club and community participation, contribution to community, regional participation and OAGC participation.
Mrs. Cowdrey has worked on float decorations for the annual Rocky Fork
Lake Holiday Parade and several Christmas parades.
Mrs. Cowdrey says she has enjoyed volunteering her time for many years
with local 4-H clubs. She has served as a 4-H flower show judge at the Highland County Fair and the Adams County Fair.
