Ronnie and Leona Purdin to celebrate 50th anniversary

Ronnie and Leona (Slankard) Purdin of Fairfax will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Sept. 8.
Ronnie graduated from Hillsboro High School, while Leona graduated from Metropolis Community High School in Metropolis, Ill.
They met in Washington, D.C. in 1962 where they both worked. They returned to Metropolis where they were married on Sept. 8 of that same year in the First Christian Church, by Reverend Angel.
They moved back to Ohio from Washington, D.C. in 1964.
They are blessed with two daughters: Karee Kae (Richard, Jr.) Shaw of Lake Waynoka and Danella Dee (Robert) Pettenski of Orient; and two grandchildren: Andrew Michael and Anna Marie Pettenski.
Ronnie currently sells real estate for Donald E. Fender Realty and Leona works for Southern State Community College at the Hillsboro campus. They have retired from farming, but enjoy antiquing in their spare time.
They plan to celebrate the event with their children and grandchildren.
