WILMINGTON, Ohio—It’s time for you to take a proactive approach with your health by taking advantage of Direct Laboratory Testing now available at Clinton Memorial Hospital
This new service means patients can have laboratory tests of blood draws or urine samples performed by CMH Regional Health System’s professional lab staff without a physician’s order. The patient assumes the responsibility for the results and can share them with a physician if they wish.
CMH Laboratory Services offer 34 screenings tests that only involve a blood draw or urine sample. Among the tests available are those for calcium levels, blood count, blood sugar, anemia, pregnancy determination, kidney function, and drugs.
This service is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
CMH’s professional technicians are conveniently located on the ground floor of the hospital, just off the atrium and around the corner from the Patient Information/Registration desk.
. Patient Information/Registration staff can provide a list of tests. After selecting tests, all you have to do is sign a consent form, pay for the testing (credit cards accepted) and have blood drawn and/or provide a urine sample.
All of the specimen testing is done on site in CMH Laboratory Services. The cost of tests ranges from $8 to $30.
CMH will mail results to patients along with a general explanation of them. Results will not be sent to CMH Medical Records/Health Information Management. They will be maintained electronically in CMH Laboratory Services, noted as “self-ordered”.
Patients must pay for the testing at the time the specimen is taken and an insurance company (including Medicare and Medicaid) will not be billed.
In the event that a laboratory result indicates a potential medical or health risk, the patient will be contacted and advised to seek immediate medical attention.
Minors requesting Direct Laboratory Testing must have parental consent.
CMH Laboratory Services is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary full service lab accredited by the College of American Pathologists and the American Association of Blood Banks.
The lab’s state of the art equipment and experienced staff offer an extensive list of laboratory testing procedures. Clinical diagnostic services are offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
