Preschool and prekindergarten classes held at Southern State

The Patri-Tots Learning Center will host an open house event from 3-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the Central Campus location of Southern State Community College, 200 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
“All parents want what’s best for their children,” said site administrator Kathe Chaney. “You make sure they eat healthy foods and that they’re safe riding in a car or playing outside. And, like all parents, you want your child to be successful in school. That’s where we come in. The Patri-Tots Learning Centers at Southern State Community College will help you begin the foundation of your child’s academic career.”
Southern State houses Patri-Tots Learning Centers at Central Campus in Hillsboro and North Campus in Wilmington. Both child learning centers are licensed by the ODJFS and are open five days a week serving community members and college students, faculty and staff.  The Patri-Tots locations currently accept children from 18 months to 5 years of age. There are both part-time and full-time space options at each location.
“We offer both preschool and prekindergarten classrooms with teachers who have earned associate’s degrees in early childhood education from Southern State,” said Chaney. “Our toddler classrooms, which accommodate children from 18 months to age 3, have teachers with plenty of experience to help your little ones have fun learning their colors and shapes.”
Developmentally appropriate activities within a preschool setting are provided by qualified teachers who have aligned their curriculum with the Ohio Early Learning Standards.
“Please come meet our staff and visit our classrooms,” Chaney said. “A variety of activities will be available and refreshments will be served.”
Recently, the Hillsboro site of Patri-Tots moved to a new location on Southern State’s campus with brand new classrooms and fenced-in playground area. The site is located at 200 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
