Lynchburg Lions Club candy sale kicks off Nov. 20

The Lynchburg Lions Club is having their annual candy sale from Nov. 20 through Dec. 31.

There will be 40 different varieties of candy for sale. Candy will be available in Hillsboro at the Highland County Republican Headquarters at 200 West Main Street. It will also be available at the Southern Hills Community Bank in Lynchburg.

The location in Lynchburg will be open during regular bank business hours. The location in Hillsboro will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Additional orders can be placed at any time by calling (937) 288-2235, (937) 364-6101 or (937) 509-3042. Churches and other charitable groups will receive a discount.

• Ohio Lions Foundation – Ohio Disaster Relief and Blind Student Scholarships

• Lions Club International Foundation – Worldwide Disaster Relief

• Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation – high tech eye research

• International Relations – worldwide service projects

• Canine Companions – provides companion dogs

• Pilot Dogs – provides seeing eye guide dogs to the blind

• Sight and Hearing – provides funds for sight/hearing testing and equipment

• Central Ohio Lions Eye Bank – provides cornea transplants

• Diabetes Awareness – Conducts diabetes research and education

• Ohio Lions Pediatric Cancer Foundation – conducts pediatric cancer research and education

• Personal Energy Transportation (PET) – equipment for handicapped persons

• Environmental Services – environmental education and service projects

• Eye Glass Collection – collects used glasses that are then given to needy persons worldwide

• KAMP Dovetail – donates both money and labor to KAMP Dovetail

• Historical Society – donates to local chapter

• Food Pantry – donates to local food pantry programs

• Athletic Departments – donates to Lynchburg-Clay and Hillsboro HS Athletic Departments and Athletic Boosters

• Eyeglasses for needy persons – donates new eyeglasses for local persons

• “GOOD” Program for Students – sponsors positive character-building program for all L-C fifth grade students

• Peace Poster Program – sponsors “Peace Poster” Program for all L-C sixth grade students

• Lions Quest – provides educational programs for area high schools

• Hearing Preservation Awareness – provides hearing research and education

• District Lions Convention – donates to Convention expenses for speakers and educational programs

• Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts – pays charter fees for both Scout groups

• Boy Scouts Leadership Camp – pays fees for Boy Scout Patrol Leader training

• Gift Bags for area residents – provides personal gift bags of snacks and hygiene products to local residents

• Shoes for Students – provides shoes for needy students at the L-C Elementary School

• Educational Materials – provides curriculum materials for L-C Schools

• Local Special Service projects – donates to special local community projects as they arise each month

• Facilities for group meetings – provides meeting facilities for Scouts, Antique Tractor Pullers Association and other community groups.
