Lynchburg Historical Society announces new books, open house
The Lynchburg Historical Society will host an Open House during the annual Village Christmas event on Friday & Saturday, December 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at their new address, 441 North Main Street in Lynchburg. The public is invited to view special displays and purchase ornaments, homemade candy and cookies, and Lynchburg calendars and books from past years.
Two new books compiled by the Lynchburg Historical Society are now available for purchase as well. They are: "Baseball Remembered: Lynchburg, Ohio" and "Pfister: Baseball - Softball."
Lynchburg mayor Jeremy Shaffer proclaimed August 7, 2010 to be William Pfister and Woody Williams Day in the village. These two books, edited by
Virginia Rhonemus, commemorate the contributions of these two men to Lynchburg’s baseball and softball heritage and collect several decades of
photos and articles about local teams. Each book costs $12. All proceeds go to the programs and operations of the Historical Society.
The Lynchburg Historical Society meets the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Lynchburg Branch Library meeting room. Due to preparations for the 2010 Village Christmas, the next regular meeting is scheduled for January 3, 2011 at 6pm. The Society encourages anyone interested in
preserving Lynchburg history to attend meetings and join the Society. There are many opportunities for volunteering and researching as well as working
on special projects and fundraisers.
The Society also would like to invite anyone interested to share old photos, historic documents, and/or local artifacts to be loaned, copied, or
added to our collections. Please contact Historical Society officers at 364-2080 or 364-6101 or the Lynchburg Library at 364-2511 for more information.
